KID'S ART YARD

Every great artist the world has ever known started

off as a child with an unfettered imagination!

The Kid’s Art Yard at the Panoply Art Festival is packed with fun,

FREE make-n-take activities the whole family can enjoy!

There’s Something For e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e!  You can visit a number of our
Kids' Art Yard activities in their new location in EAST PARK
(off Church Street, SW - just north of the Huntsville Museum of Art)

Packaging Materials
Cardboard Creatures

Art comes alive as children make their own creations out of cardboard, paint, and various décor.  Children can chose from pre-form animals (such as the famous Big Spring Duck!) or invent their own creature!

AeroThermo Technology, Inc.
Crazy Hats

Become your own “Mad Hatter” by inventing your own crazy hat creation!  Choose a design to produce your chapeau...and then decorate it by using items such as streamers, sequins, foam cutouts, and jewels.

Disco Fish

This activity brings to life the beautiful residents of the Big Spring.  Kids and parents alike will be delighted with their sparkly swimmers made from compact discs, stickers, sequins, and googly eyes!

Discover Music

A delightful activity brought to us by one of our TAC members, the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild.  Come test out musical instruments – you may discover you’re a natural musician!  Musicians will demonstrate their instruments for you throughout the weekend.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Face Painting

Be sure to stop by the Face Painting tent and choose between several different designs.  Your options range from Hello Kitty, Spiderman, SpongeBob SquarePants, balloons, and the Cat in the Hat to the logo of your favorite college team!

Earth Fare Supermarket
Mask-A-Rade

Children decorate masks with paints, feathers, and many cool things.  When they are finished, each child has a beautiful mask to wear around the park and play Mask-A-Rade with at home!

Jacobs ESTS Group/National Space Club
Pano-Vision

Embracing the past while acknowledging the advancement of technology has always been an integral part of Huntsville life.  In 2009, in celebration of “The Year of Alabama History”—and NASA’s special role in it—ETV and Panoply launched yet another “lunar” activity.  This year, the Jacobs ESTS Group/National Space Club Pano-Vision returns, and will enable children to star in and create their own galactic “mini-movie,” spacewalking via the magic of Hollywood Chroma Key (green screen) technology.

Burger King
Panoply Posies

Children use their artistic green thumb to create their very own “Secret Garden!”  With the use of coffee filters, markers, pipe cleaners, and a spray bottle of water, they bring life to their own “pocket full of posies.”

United Space Alliance
Rockin’ Rockets!

This creative children’s activity will take our young Panoply patrons "to infinity and beyond!"  Using foam swim noodles, pipe cleaners, and paper cups, budding rocket scientists can enjoy this new twist on classic spacecraft with a little help from our own ground crew…the fantastic Kid’s Art Yard volunteers!

Dixie Homecrafters/GutterGuard
Storytelling in the Park

One of the world’s oldest art forms, storytelling is a tried-and-true way to entertain adults and kids alike.  In a further salute to “The Year of Alabama History,” Panoply presented our first-ever “Storytelling in the Park,” featuring tales spun by some of the nation’s best narrators!  The showcase will again take place this year.  It will be held at the Theatre Demo Tent and includes lessons in this special art, as conducted by our esteemed guests.
