Huntsville Police Announce Road Closures for Panoply

 


In preparation for the Panoply Arts Festival, the Huntsville Police Department will be closing several streets around Big Spring
International Park in downtown Huntsville.  On Monday, April 19, signs announcing road closings will be placed at the intersections of closed streets and will remain in place until roads re-open on Monday, April 26.

The following road closing/opening schedule will be followed for Panoply, taking place April 23 – 25, 2010.

 

Monday, April 19—9:00 a.m.:

 

1.       Close Lowe Avenue from Gallatin Street/Church Street to the northern rear entrance to the Holiday Inn.   Access to the Holiday Inn will still be from Lowe Avenue and from Monroe Street.

 

2.       Close Monroe Street from south of the intersection at Williams Avenue, and before the entrance to the Holiday Inn, north to the south side of the exit from the circular drive of the VBC Ticket Office.  Access to the VBC Ticket Office/Parking Garage will be maintained during the festival set-up, the festival itself and breakdown of the festival.  Access to the Holiday Inn, Embassy Suites, the James A. Williams Aquatic Center and other businesses adjacent to those listed will be maintained from Monroe Street.

 

3.       Close Williams Avenue from Church Street to Monroe Street.

 

4.       Handicap parking for the event will be provided inside of the city parking garage Lot “M” located between Church Street and Monroe Street.

 

5.       Bicycle parking will be allowed at designated bicycle racks at two entrance gateways to the event along Church Street.

 

Friday, April 23:

 

Both northbound/southbound traffic lanes of Church Street will be closed starting south of the city parking garage south to the north side of the Huntsville Museum of Art.  In order to join Big Spring International Park East with the West side of the park, this 400’ street section will remain closed throughout the weekend.

 

Church Street will be open for morning traffic on the morning of Monday, April 26.  All roads will re-open no later than 5:00 p.m. that day.  Media contacts for road closures are Sgt.
